The landscape of manufacturing is rapidly changing to cope with the new pressures of the Coronavirus pandemic. Industry is trying to balance the economic impact whilst navigating safety related factors for the company. In response, Altus, a leading distributor of capital equipment, has been hard at work sourcing and launching new equipment to support its customers in the UK and Ireland. Altus has launched three new products immediately available across the UK and Ireland as well as the rest of Europe. The new additions include a Thermal Measurement Access Gate, hand and surface disinfectant and a portable hand sanitising station.

The SmartRep GmbH Thermal Measurement Access Gate, has already received interest resulting in the initial stock being sold within days of availability. The innovative access control system automatically measures body temperature when staff pass through it. The unit comes with either an IR-sensor or camera at the user’s choice and is the ideal solution to indicate potential illness of employees. This system can be upgraded to also include a metal detection function, therefore working for a broader range of sectors and applications.

Joe Booth, Director – Business Development and Marketing said: As well as trying to remain open and active to support our critical user base and keep manufacturing lines running, it is important for Altus, as a trusted partner, to continue to search for value for our customers. It was clear that there was a need for safety-related equipment as companies move from an ‘old’ normal to the ‘new’ normal. We wanted to address this delta quickly helping to soften the blow for manufacturers fighting to stay open and to support them with equipment that would help in allowing them to continue to trade.”

Kolb, world renowned chemistry provider and long standing partner of Altus, has utilised their knowledge and skills in innovative manufacturing cleaning solutions to launch a hand and surface disinfectant. This change in production is to help their partners and those in need in times where demand heavily outweighs supply. Kolb’s disinfectant is available in a range of quantities and all with immediate lead time to meet with demand. The final new product addition to the Altus portfolio is a portable hand sanitising station. Made by SmartRep GmbH, the station can be moved around a facility to support regular hygiene when washing hands if soap is not feasible or accessible to those in need.

‘During these difficult times it is important that service providers remain flexible and continue to understand the needs of their partners,” said Joe. “At Altus our key value is to provide superior service and support. We do this by listening to our partners’ challenges and pressures. We have been able to quickly react to meet their needs with some great new products. We hope that things can return to normal soon but until then, we will continue to adapt to meet demand and keep our economy moving.’’ To find out more about Altus’ innovative equipment offering visit www.altusgroup.co.uk
